Overview
Description
Conceived by Nicolas G. Hayek in 1983 to combat the quartz crisis, Swatch’s 51‑part, Swiss‑made plastic watches married colourful design to low pricing, selling 20 million units by 1988. The concept’s success funded what is now the Swatch Group, owner of Omega, Breguet, Tissot and more. Recent Bioceramic models and “MoonSwatch” collaborations keep the brand culturally relevant while showcasing sustainable materials.
